Walking in Wexford

There are many lovely walks immediately around your cottage. Some of the walks begin directly behind your house and wind initially thorough our own fields. Others begin on the beach.

The walks are very beautiful, some with a special magic and I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have since first introduced to them by my father many years ago.

We have mapped our favourite walks creating mainly looped walks varying in length from 2.3 miles to over 10 miles. Many of the walks incorporate stretches along the shore and are along paths and country lanes. Sometimes they venture unto small winding country roads but we have kept road walking to a minimum.

The pathways and lanes of many of the walks interlink and can be varied to suit the length of time and energy available. They may be entered at various points to reduce the length of the walk. Where possible we have identified café pubs and restaurants but much of the walks are off the beaten track so it is advisable to bring a drink and some packed food. We have small back packs on request.

Walking boots are necessary in winter as the beaches are traversed by streams that are passable in summer but need boots to cross at other times.

Dogs are allowed on the beach. It is advisable however not to bring dogs through farmland paths and they are not allowed in The Polders beside the wild life sanctuary.

All of the walks are relatively easy with just a scramble up or down a steep bank in some areas.
One of the most beautiful walks is through Raven Wood and around Raven Point which we have included here on the website. We have also included the south walk along Morriscastle Beach and through the local village.

The other walks which we have mapped for our guests may be downloaded from our Guest Log In section. You can also use your iPhone or Android Phone to trace the the walk itself as you traverse along the beaches, or through the winding lanes and countryside.
